I describe dance as the main outlet to my emotions and my life. I have been dancing since I was a toddler. I started off being exposed to African dance at the age of 2/3. My parents are originally from Kenya (East Africa) and they had always exposed my brother and I to our culture growing up and that included dance. I soon fell in love with dancing and continued. I then got into cheerleading at a young age. At the Age of 13/14 , I started training in the styles of ballet, hip hop, jazz and lyrical dance. From there I started a dance team at my middle school where I then went on to being the captain and choreographing for a team of up to 10 girls. Soon after, I went on to high school where I was the only freshman on the dance team and I quickly fell in love with many more styles of dance. By senior year, I became one of the student directors for that very same dance team. During this time , I also became a cheer coach for Jr Wildcats cheer in Elk Grove (3-5 yr olds). After graduating high school , I attended Sacramento City College where I was a Jazz pom dancer and student and then eventually stepped up an d became a captain for the team. Eventually I started dancing professionally mainly for local African artists. This allowed me to travel all over and meet new people while I did what I loved. Throughout all those years of me dancing I had also gotten the opportunity to teach dance and cheer to children and teens . To say the least my dance experience is extensive but to have my very own program that focuses on my favorite style of dance means ALOT. This program is my baby.
